May recap

I just realized that I haven't included any pictures of Vince sitting up, so here you go!
Telling a story about how he learned to sit all by himself...
Sitting up like a big boy - he loves those keys!
See Mom, it's like this....
May was a big month for this little guy (for all of us really). We had our trip to DC, quickly followed by his first day of day care, he started eating solids, he started sitting up unsupported, and his first little teeth popped through. What a month!

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...

Yep, that's right! Vince now has teeth! He had a little surprise for me on Saturday when I got home from grocery shopping - his first tooth (bottom left) had popped through! Then on Sunday we noticed that his other tooth popped through (bottom right) so he had two teeth by Memorial Day! Then today when I picked him up from day care I felt his gums and his two top teeth poked through today! Wow, little man!! As you can imagine, it's hard to get pictures, but I will try.

A bottle? No problem!

I don't know that I'll get pictures, but I just have to share. First of all, Vince has really transitioned well while at day care; he doesn't cry when others hold him, he doesn't cry when other babies make loud noises or cry, and ..... HE'S EATING FROM A BOTTLE! When I showed up today they were about to feed him his last bottle so I watched. Not only did he know I was there, but I held him while they were warming up the milk. I let the teacher feed him so I could see what their trick was and there was no trick! She just held him, put the bottle in his mouth, and he went to town! He didn't stop eating until that bottle was dry, didn't come up for air or anything, just plowed right through. I couldn't believe it!! Way to go Vince! (It's about time! :-) )

Day care update

This last Monday was Vince's first day of day care and the start of my first official week back to work. Here are some pics from the day care - it was a little rough for all of us, but it has gotten easier. Vince is quite the super star with the bottle now too! He's been refusing to eat from a bottle since Christmas. Maybe it was just having someone new try to get him to eat, I'm not sure, but he's flying through the milk I send with him! I'd been sending him there with 4 oz bottles since that was by far the most he'd ever eaten at one time from a bottle. Today (Thursday) I brought in 5 oz bottles and he plowed through those as well! That silly little boy has transitioned to day care life really well!

Let the eating begin!

Now that we're back from DC, I'm back to work and Vince is settling into day care, we figured it was about time to start feeding him some food. A few days ago we gave him his ceremonial Krispy Kreme icing as his first taste of real food - and of course he loved it! [Thanks Jerry & Angela for the idea! :-)] We put his fingers on the doughnut so they were covered in icing - he sucked on his fingers so hard I thought they were going to pop right off! Yummy! Then tonight we gave him his first little bowl of rice cereal - which he LOVED and couldn't get enough of! You'd think we were starving him the way he was going at it!
First taste
Can't get enough! This is about as messy as he got, mostly all over his chin, hands, and bib. He didn't really spit any of it back out either - he tried to get as much in as possible!
His little hands made it into his mouth on almost every bite as well.
Good job Vince! Next we'll have to see how well he does with a sippy cup. :-)

Washington DC

One of the first things Vince did when we got to DC was start putting his toes in his mouth! It's amazing how flexible babies are!
Here are a few pictures from our day and a half in Washington DC. Although short, we had a fabulous time! We saw a lot but didn't have the time to go into ANY museums. Hopefully we will be able to come back soon so we can actually tour the sites.
Excited to be in DC!
Riding the Metro into DC - he hasn't even ridden on our Max system yet!
Vince being silly in front of the Lincoln Memorial
Vince has really buffed me out! I'm holding the Washington Monument with one arm!
(Cheesy, I know. You gotta have one of these cheeseball pics though!)
Mooning the Capitol Bldg in front of the Capitol Building in front of the White House
Tired little boy!

Happy 6-month Birthday Vince!

I can't believe our little man is already 6 months old! Here are some cute pics of him enjoying his car ride to visit my family for the weekend. I'll post more pictures from last weekend later. We took him in for his 6 month check-up yesterday. He weighs 16 lbs 14 oz (40-45th percentile) and is 26 1/4" tall (50th percentile).
Silly little guy!
