New Years in Idaho

By Dec 30 the weather had let up a bit. Assuming that our house probably wouldn't become damaged further during the week ahead, we decided to make a belated Christmas flight to Boise to see family and introduce Vince to everyone. Vince had his 2 month appt on the 31st so we flew that evening. Here are some pictures from our trip.
I had gotten him out of his car seat and was holding him with my nursing wrap at my side and his binkie in my other hand, ready for the baby cries as we took off... and he SLEPT right through it! He actually slept the ENTIRE flight!
We don't make a habit of co-sleeping, but I thought this picture was too cute not to share!
Vince snoozing in Aunt Melissa's arms - getting kicked by his cousin who is due to arrive in May. Can't wait to meet her!
This may not look that significant, but this is the first time Vince has actually slept laying flat! He's been in a bouncy/vibrating chair for the incline since we brought him home. In fact, laying him flat is how we'd wake him up early on so that he would continue eating because he always fell asleep in the middle of meal time. Hopefully this means we can transition him to his crib mattress soon! (He does still prefer the chair.)
We had a great visit with John and Sarah. Sarah's holding Vince and John's holding their "baby" basset hound "Addy".
Vince and his Great Grandma.
3-generation pic. My Mom was supposed to come too but wasn't able to due to the bad weather. We'll hopefully get a 4-generation pic later this year.

Out cold in Aunt Sandi's arms. Meeting Aunt Robbin and cousin Samuel.

Meeting cousin Arika.

Cuddling with Mommy - Sunday morning.
Cuddling with Grandma.
Having lunch with Jodi. Not only did she get to meet Vince, but we got to meet her boyfriend Joe. It was great catching up with Jodi and meeting Joe!

Chillin' in his hoody from Grandma.

Vince's 2nd flight - again slept the whole way! I left him in his car seat this time and he was out cold the entire time. Our flight was even delayed from leaving for an hour while they used the de-icers. We got out right as another winter storm was hitting Boise. Good thing we got the early morning flight!

Hopefully we'll make another trip to Boise soon to see the rest of our friends and family that we missed this time... and to get two 4-generation pictures (my side and Brian's) taken. If we time it right, we'll also be able to meet Vince's new little cousin (arriving in May)! I'll keep you posted. :-)

Finishing off December

Just after Christmas we got together with some friends for a guys poker night / girls baby night. Vince liked all the attention. :-) Sorry I'm a bit late with this.
Here's Vince and his friend Savannah who is only 3 weeks younger than him. I love the little reindeer feet on this outfit!
being held by his pal Amy.
On Dec 31 we were finally able to get Vince in for his 2 month appt - previous appts had been cancelled due to the crazy weather. He got his immunizations which pretty much knocked him out for the rest of the day (made flying to Boise really easy! more on that later). We also got his weight and measurements - so at 10 weeks he was 12 lbs 2 oz (50th percentile) and 21.75" long. He's getting so big, we're starting the transition out of newborn sized clothes to 0-3 months! His Christmas outfits are 0-3 mo.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! Here are some pictures of Vince in front of his first Christmas tree - not our tree but Uncle Mark & Aunt Mindy's. Thankfully they also stayed local this Christmas so we were able to all get together for some Christmas fun with family!

Joys of home ownership

Turns out it was a blessing in disguise that our flights were cancelled this week. Monday morning Brian sat down at the computer desk to check our flight status and felt some water under his feet. Upon inspection we found more and more wet spots so we moved furniture out of the way and started pulling up carpet. This is what we found.
It's dripping in from the roof into the wall and then is seeping in at the floor. We don't see any wall or ceiling damage so it's just coming in through the floor - for now at least. Now all the carpet is pulled up in Vince's room. The water is leaking in the entire length of the wall from the window to the closet. We talked to the neighbors and found out they're experiencing the same thing. Out of the 25 townhomes in our community, we know of 8 having these issues. I'm sure when people get home from their vacations the list will be longer. Thankfully we were here to move furniture out of the way! It would be terrible to come home to so much damage!
We next found water dripping from the heat vent in the living room ceiling. It's hard to see but there are 5 drips from the vent.
This is one evening worth of accumulation. A contractor was here yesterday to break away the ice dams which are apparently causing all the problems (actually as Brian keeps telling everyone, it's not the ice dams but the holes in the roof that are the problem) so hopefully all the drips will slow down and/or stop.
This is the floor in our bedroom which is right above the living room vent. We did find some water starting to accumulate in here as well but it doesn't feel as wet as Vince's room so we haven't pulled up the carpet yet. We definitely are monitoring the migration of wet carpet though! We'll keep you posted.
All this, and a million calls to State Farm, and we still haven't heard from the adjuster to get the green light to start getting this all fixed! Hope all is well everywhere else and we'll keep you posted on our latest adventure...

Snowed in...

Our flight was cancelled for today due to the crazy weather Portland is getting so we're at home making the best of being snowed/iced into our house. We got 8 in. yesterday plus freezing rain last night and it has started snowing again! Hopefully it'll hurry and melt so we can make our flight tomorrow! Here are some pictures from our house.
The snow and ice were too much for the bush outside our front door!
Brian took Vince out to play with his first snowball! This was before the freezing rain.

Some professional shots...

Last Friday we had Vince's pictures taken by a photographer that goes to our church. They turned out AMAZING!! I love them all (of course!) and can't wait to share them with you! Favorites are posted on his blog, check out his blog entry for Dec 15 at http://www.curtisleefarmer.blogspot.com/. There are a few of Brian & I too (not on his blog) that I will include on my blog once I get our copies.

Our family

Our first official family pic with Vince. I finally read the book and learned how to use the timer on my camera so we were able to get a good shot at home. We have so few pictures of us together that actually look ok (both looking at the camera, both smiling, etc) we'll have to do it more often!
I also had my 6-week appt today (post c-section appt) and had Vince weighed while we were there. He's at 9 lbs 13 oz!! That's 2 lbs in just under 3 weeks! Good job Vince!
